Who is really for Middle-Class Americans?

Yesterday, I interviewed a young, African-American man, named Randy L. We spoke briefly about who had the best Presidential plans for his economic situation and career. He stated the most important things to him are, "My children's future, college plans and his job in manufacturing." Surprisingly, he said he would be voting for Obama, however could not articulate his economic plans that will affect him. So I did some research and this is what I found.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/subjects/economy/?gclid=CIPm4JGXp5YCFQ2LDQod03eVzQ
This website PolitiFacts.com gives a breakdown of each candidate's statements on the economy; even those who dropped out of the presidential race.

Further, research I discovered this:

OBAMA'S MIDDLE CLASS RESCUE PLANJOBS.
(1) Tax breaks for companies that create jobs in U.S. (not new)
(2) Eliminate capital gains taxes for new small businesses and start ups. (new)
(3) Fast track loan guarantees for car makers (not new)
(4) Jobs/Growth fund -- aimed at local municipalities to keep jobs that might have otherwise been cut for budgetary purposes. (new)

FAMILIES.
(1) Middle class tax cut (not new)
(2) Calls on Congress to give rebates by Winter (new)
(3) Extend employment benefits for those who lost their jobs (not new)
(4) No taxes on unemployment benefits (new)
(5) Retirement Savings: Welcomed McCain's proposal to let people withdraw from their 401Ks, but went further: proposing people could withdraw without penalty up to $10,000 from their 401Ks through 2009. (new)
HOMEOWNERS.(1) Mortgage Tax Credit -- worth 10% of mortgages (not sure the specifics)
(2) Three-month moratorium on foreclosures (new) -- "give people breathing room to get back on their feet.
INCREASED $ FOR BANKS(1) Have Treasury move faster on his plan to inject money directly into banks.
MAKE LOANS AVAILABLE.(1) Create a Small Business Lending Fund (already proposed)

After viewing Obama's plan, i asked him the question again, who has the best presidential plans for the economy? His honest answer, he said, "I don't know it's pretty vague." We laughed and still decided we are voting for Obama. The lesson is this, Do your homework on candidates, don't just vote for someone based on others opinion of him. You honestly may not agree.

Who is Bailey Black media?

Hello everyone, my name is Sonya. The author of Bailey Black media blog. Although this started off as an assignment, I have become quite fond of blogging, especially about Obama! He shows growth and change in the United States. Less than 50 years ago, racism was open and obvious. Jim Crow and the Klu Klux Klan were a part of daily conversations. No one could have predicted they would ever see the day, that you could actually vote a Black man into the Presidency.

That is actually change in itself. But what strikes me as odd is, although Whites are voting for Obama; people still are prejudice. How can you vote for a Black man, yet you still do racial profiling? How can you post his placard in your yard and still pass me up for a promotion?

OK, one has nothing to do with the other? Yeah Right! He is still a Black man. One that was lynched, denied the right to vote, beat in front of his children, given a longer jail sentence for crack rather cocaine, told you are not good enough for my daughter and showed the rear entrance of the store.

Any apologies? I hear crickets! I know he will help my middle-income family save money, he will bring our troops home, he will stop wasteful spending, he will provide me with affordable health care and he will balance the budget. Somehow, I do not believe Whites thought they would ever look to a Black man for his leadership and guidance. Wow, how times have CHANGED.

I am a voice in Black media.

My 13 year old daughter's opinion of the first Presidential debate?

During the debate, I realized that the person that should be asking the questions, didn't really give Senator Obama enough time to answer. I think it was rude of Senator McCain when he kept interrupting Senator Obama when he was stating his answer. I believe that Senator Obama had good answers for the most part. But I don't believe all of his "plans" will go through. I mean his plans are great. But this is his first time running for President, so where he stands is all to new for him.
Is Senator Obama really ready? When George Bush was running he had all these "new plans" and all of us know what happened to those. In my view, I thought Senator McCain spoke to Senator Obama like a "child". If people want a man who undermines or upstages an opponent , then I don't want him as MY President. Key'anna Seals

As you can see, my daughter was not focused on the issues as McCain was caught up in rhetoric. In the CBS poll, 66% thought Obama did a better job in Q&As versus 42% for McCain. Tonite, is their second debate in townhall fashion. It will be interesting to see mydaughter point-of-view.

Is it ok for a presidential candidate to have a myspace page?

Well folks here you have it, Barack has a myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/barackobama
You know what I am OK with it. This tells me he is in touch with common folks, teenagers and children. He has yet to cease to amaze me.

What's this I hear McCain says let's suspend campaigning because his President wants us to bailout these failing companies. I thought that was the job of the CEO that makes more than I will ever in my lifetime. They made bad economic decisions, let them bail themselves out. We just learned about "Golden Parachute " of which CEO get, well seems like they should close them and that should be 1/4 of what is necessary to bail out their company. Why do the taxpayers always have to pay?

So President Bush lied, he said he was issuing stimulus checks to jumpstart spending, only to ask for them back at a higher return. Stop this useless war and you stop this recession.

Oops, got off track, Does any one else know of a President that way ahead of his time in campaigning?

Who creates Obama's Commericials

After attending week four video project class, I wondered about Obama's videos and advertisements. Are they effective? Have they enhanced his presidential messages? This is his first video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPy7RnHwvmA and his first song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjXyqcx-mYY&NR=1. Do these inspire you to want change?

Can you imagine what past presidential videos may have looked like? See for yourself. We have come a long way in a short time with technology.

These examples provide an inside look at how the vidoes were developed, what went into the design and layout, lack thereof creativity, and recording.

Grassroots campaigns work!

In the beginning of time, there were campaign contributions. Maybe you received, cash under the table, a car, a house, someone's daughter, a favor or a past on an debt. But, you received something for something. Why am I talking gibbish, I pledged Obama $25 dollars in July and was kindly matched by a gentlemen in Kansas City, Mo. How nice I thought!

Now the emails keep coming, ugh! I like Obama, but slow up computer-generated replies. Check out his website: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/womenissues

This is my recent read. I wondered where Obama and Biden stood on women and race issues.

Speech Writing: Are these Obama's words

Our recent class meeting we discussed speech writing and how to write for the ear. Well, that peaked my interest. I said, "Who writes Obama's speeches?" Does he or does he too, have a speechwriter? Turns out he does! His name is Jon Faverau, also former Audio Clip producer for Kerry campaign.

Check him out. http://www.newsweek.com/id/84756

I also found a website for historical speeches. http://www.historyplace.com/speeches/previous.htm
